दन्तेश्वरी माता का
मंदिर जिले में अवस्थित हैं। दन्तेश्वरी माता के मंदिर का निर्माण रानी भाग्येश्वरी
देवी ने कराया था। यहां एशिया की सबसे उंची वालटेयर, रेल्वे
लाईन स्थित है। विश्व प्रसिद्ध लौह अयस्क, किरंदुल और बैलाडीला
की खदाने इसी जिले में हैं।

Histroy of dantewada
- Dantewada का नाम बदल कर दक्षिण बस्तर दंतेवाड़ा कर दिया गया क्यों कि यह बस्तर
क्षेत्र में दक्षिण दिशा में स्थित है। - मां दन्तेश्वरी के नाम यह क्षेत्र का नाम रखा
गया दन्तेश्वरी इस्ट देवी के रूप में यहां पूज्यनीय है।मां दन्तेश्वरी मंदिर
52 शक्ति पीठ में से एक मानी जाती है। जो कि भारत में माता का प्रमुख शक्ति केन्द्र
है। - ऐतिहासिक रूप से यह क्षेत्र दण्डकारण्य का हिस्सा है जो बस्तर एवं कांकेर में
फैला था। - रामायण एवं महाभारत कालीन यह क्षेत्र दक्षिण कौशल का हिस्सा रहा। प्राचीन
मान्यता के अनुसार दंतेवाड़ा से होकर राम लक्षण एवं मां सीता इस रास्ते से वनवान
गमन में नीकले थे। - दंतेवाड़ा शहर का ऐतिहासिक निर्माण
अधिक पुराना नहीं है। दंतेश्वरी मंदिर का निर्माण छत्तीसगढ़ के प्रथम डिप्टी कमिश्नर
चाल्स इलियट द्वारा किया गया।जिसे आगे चलकर पुरोषोत्म देव एवं कुछ समय बाद राजा द्रीगपाल
ने मंदिर का जीर्णोद्धार किया । - दंतेवाड़ा में इतिहास रूप से यहां
अनेक बड़े राजवंश का प्रभाव रह नंदवंश, मौर्य,
सातवाहन,
गुप्त
वंश, शरभपुरीय,
चालुक्य
एवं नागवंश जो कि यहां का पूर्णत: स्थानीय वंश था। - इन
राजवंश के बाद कुछ समय के लिए मराठा/भोसला शासन एवं ब्रिटिश का शासन एवं राज रहा। - दंतेवाड़ा जिला का निर्माण 22 मई
1998 को हुआ। - दंतेवाडा़ में सर्वाधिक चालुक्या
राजवंश एवं काकतीय राजवंश का प्रभुत्व रहा जिन्हें गोंड के रूप में भी जाना जाता
है।दंतेवाड़ा गोंड संस्कृति का केन्द्र है।

है यहां की सुन्दरता अत्यंन्त मनमोहक है। - वन क्षेत्र से घिरी हुई भूमि नागवंश की
ऐतिहासिकता बया करती है। - दंतेवाड़ा के बारसुर क्षेत्र ऐतिहासिक राजाओं की नगरी हुआ करती
थी। - यह क्षेत्र को आर्किलोज्किल सर्वे द्वारा संरक्षित किया गया है।बारसुर में चालुक्य
राजा का शासन था। उस समय दण्डकारण्य क्षेत्र के अंतर्गत बारसुर एवं दन्तेवाड़ा वहां
के की राजधानी हुआ करती थी। यहा क्षेत्र अबुझमाड़ का दॉर कहलाता है।

में -बस्तर जिला से दक्षिण में सुकमा जिला पश्चिम में बीजापुर जिला से लगा हुआ है। - दंतेवाडा बस्तर पठार
का हिस्सा है। यहां विशाल पठार एवं पवर्त है।यहां की मिट्टी लेटराइठ एवं रेतीली मिट्टी
है।जो कि आम जाम केला, महुआ कोदो कुटकी धान मक्का के लिए
उपयुक्त है।
Major Rivers प्रमुख नदियां
- दंतेवाड़ा मंदिर इंद्रावती , शंखनी,डंकनी,
गोदावरी नदी के किनारे बसा है। शंखनी एवं डंकनी नदी को दंतेवाडा की लाइफलाइन
कहते है। इन नदियों के संगम पर मां दन्तेश्वरी का मंदिर स्थित है। यह क्षेत्र काफी
रेतीली है।यहा रेत का खनन होता है। - Dankini and Shankhani rivers, the lifeline of
Dantewada, have lost the sheen to iron ore, due to pollution of red oxide
discharged from the mines due to iron ore extraction. - These two rivers ranked, by environmentalists as
highly polluted. - The Shankhini originate from Bailadila mountain
range which is known for the high quality iron ore deposits. - Dankini meets the Shankhini river downstream.
- इसके अलावा शबरी का उदय की कुछ धारा इस क्षेत्र की
सीमा बनाती है।
Dantewada Climate दंतेवाडा़ का मौसम
दंतेवाड़ा जिला चट्टाने वन एवं पहाड पठार
नदि झरनें से घिरा हुआ है।बंगाल की खाड़ी से मानसुन की बारिस होती है। यहां गर्मियों
मे अधिक गर्म होती है। बाकी मौसम सुहाना होता है।सर्दी का समय दिसम्बर एवं फरवरी तथा
गर्म सीजन मार्च से जुन अंतिम तक रहता है। मानसुन जुन से सितम्बर तक रहता है।
सिंचाई की प्रर्यात सुविधा चूंकि यह ठाल
वाला पठारी क्षेत्र है तो बारिस का पानी रूकता नहीं नदियो से आगे निकल जाता है।
तापमान यहां के तापमान गर्मियों मे अधिकतम
41से 43 तक तक हो सकता है एवं न्युनतम तापमान 6से 7 डिग्री सेल्सियस रहता है। एवं
मई का माह सर्वाधिक गर्म एवं जनवरी सर्वाधिक कम तापमान वाला होता है।
Dantewada Forest दंतेवाडा वन
The forest in the district is
very peculiar in the manner that where one side it is full of Timber Wood Sal ,
Teak, on the other side it is full of wild fruit bearing trees which is the
lively hood of tribals of the district. Dakshin Bastar Dantewada boasts of
being the oldest forest type under erstwhile Bastar Circle.
The forests of Dakshin Bastar
Dantewada has been classified in to four groups namely : South Indian Moist
Deciduous forests, mainly comprising of teak, Moist Deciduous forests without
teak, Mixed forests, subtropical wet hill forests comprising of Bamboo also. It
is also worth mentioning here that Sal Forests give way to rich Teak forests
here in the district. For administrative convenience, the forests of the
district have been kept under three Divisions namely –
Dantewada, Bijapur &
Sukma. The Forests of the district harbour rich fauna in their natural
inhabitats. Indravati National Park situated in the western part of the
District is the only Project-Tiger-Area in the entire Chhattisgarh region, and
along with the river Indrawati “Wild Buffaloe” (bos bubalis) fighting its last
survival is also found in two Sanctuaries-namely Bharamgarh and pamed. Apart
from these two mammals, Panther, Spotted Deer, Wild Bear are also not uncommon
in these forests. Main tree spices of the forests of the district are Teak
(tectona grandis) Sal, (shorea robusta) Saj (terminalia tomentosa), Bija
(petrocarpus marsupeun), Haldu (adina cardfolia) and Bamboo (dendrocalomons
strictus). Their main “ minor forest produce” are Tamarind (tamarindus indica),
Mahuwa (mahua indica), Kosa (cocoons).
According to the Office of
Chief Conservator of Forest, C.G., reserved forest area in the district is
291170.645 hect. and protected forest area is 95521.731 hect. The total forest
area in the district is 386692.376 hect.
Dantewada Minerals खनिज
Minerals have an important
role in the economy and industrial development of the district. This district
is rich in minerals. Such as lime-stone, granite, ironore, lead, tin, corundum,
Uranium and Pharsi-stones. Among mine-based industries there are Bailadilla
ironore plant, Issar Steel Limited in Kirandul and in Hiranagar (Geedam), Steel
Plant run by National Mining Development Corporation (N.M.D.C.). The district has
monopoly in the country due to tactical importance in tin-ores. Bailadilla,
Kirandul, Bacheli, Geedum, Bhopalpattnam and Bodenar have large stores of
minerals.
Agriculture कृषि
District is basically
agriculture based, together with large forest and mineral wealth. After
agriculture, collection and sale of forest-produces is the main occupation of
the district. Main Kharif crops are paddy, makka(maize), Kodo-Kutki, Arhar,
Urad, Kulthi and Ramtil. Under Rabi crops, wheat, chana(gram), peas and teura
are the main crops.
Animal population पशु एवं जानवर
In most of the villages,
apart from agriculture, cattle rearing is the main occupation. As per the
Livestock Statistics of Department of Animal Husbandry,
Chhattisgarh, the district
has 570643 cattle, 45145 buffaloes, 197434 goat and 85498 pigs. Other livestock
are 4578 sheep and 415066 poultry.
Industry उद्योग
Dantewada district is
industrially very backward. To speed-up development of industry, District
industries centre has been established. Through this centre attraction to
capital investment, enough balance for regional development and additional
employment opportunity is created. Iron-ores from Bailadilla (Kirandul) and
Bacheli are being exported to Japan. Traditional industries of the district are
rice-mills, saw-mills, building construction materials, refractory and
industries based on forest produces such as bamboo, lac, mahua etc. Handicrafts
based enterprises such as pottery, carpentary, blacksmith, leather work etc.
are common in almost all villages.
Transport यातायात
Dantewada, the district
headquarter has a well organized system of roadways to major cities in India.
It is located along the State highway no 16 which makes it easier for the
tourists to travel to this beautiful city and adjoining area. Several private
transport buses ply from the district to nearby towns and other important towns.
Dantewada is also connected by road with Hyderabad, the capital city of the
neighboring state
Andhra Pradesh on which
APSRTC is running its bus service regularly.
Dantewada town has well
connected railway network to the major Metro cities including Kolkata, Mumbai,
New Delhi, Bangalore, Cochin Trivandrum.
Regular trains at regular intervals are available at this railways station in
Dantewada.
Dantewada has its very own railway
station which is also a part of South-East Railway zone. This particular
railway station runs regular passenger trains from the town of Vishakhapattanam
to Bailadila which then passes thwough Araku Valley, and stops at the Dantewada
station for a while before reaching the town of Bailadila.
The district does not have
any airport of its own. But the nearest airport is the Raipur airport or the
Mana airport which is about 347 kms. far from Dantewada.
DANTESHWARI TEMPLE दंतेश्वरी मंदिर
Danteshwari temple is
situated on the “Sangam” of Dankini and Shankini rivers in the district
headquarters Dantewada. Danteshwari temple was re-constructed by a brother of
Prataprudra of Barangal named annadev in fourteenth century.
According to saying , a tooth
of Sati , the wife of Shiv, had fallen here. On this basis , the place was
famous as an important Shakti peeth of India. An Asthbhuji stone statue is
known as Danteshwari Devi. In this half circled statue , the death of Narsingh
and Hiranyakashap is being highlighted. The temple is made with the combination
of three buildings. The buildings are Deood Grabhgarah, Sabhagrah with polo and
Harmandap. So many statues belonging to Brahaman religion like Vishnu, Shiv, Parvati,Ganesh
,Narsingh, Dwarpal etc. are situated in the temple boundary. Many tourists come
here every year.
The festival of Mahashivratri
is celebrated on the Gadiya Mountains and thousands of devotees visit here.

population of the district is 12.1 percent. - The percentage of urban

population ( 0-6 age group) is 14.9 percent. It has declined by 3.0 percent

6,892 population is the largest village, whereas Tumalpad of Konta tahsil with
18 persons is the smallest village in the district. - Bade Bacheli (M) is the most
populous town with 21,435 persons and Barsur (NP) with 6,636 persons is the
least populous town in the district.
